It's all About the View

Valentina peeling off the top layer of DC Fix.

Mike has been preparing the wall as we go, making it flat so we have an even surface to install on.

This is a sample area we are going to test grout colors in.

At the end of the day, Valentina somehow manages to maneuver our tool box to our storage area.
End of day 5!

We had some visitors today, including Amy Ellingson's professional photographer

Our guidelines help us not only place our piece but also allows Mike to know how much of the space to trowel.

The last piece on the right side, we've finally reached the end of the wall!

This piece is special because it has Amy's signature in it.

End of day 7!

We were lucky today to get a tour of the new air control tower, what a view!

Because we leave our top line uncut, we have to measure every piece to fit.

Manuel from Skyline concession stand in Terminal 3 brought us snacks to keep us going, what a nice surprise!

We have all the top pieces to cut

Travelling

So far this is all anyone can see of the mosaic. We've had a few people stand on the chairs to see what we're up to.

Mike is putting mesh tape and mortar on the top seam.

Chloe is cutting the right dimension for the top piece.
It's hard working on the floor but Chloe manages.

Our first top piece goes in.

End of day 3!

We are preparing more top pieces for installing tomorrow.

End of day 4!

Slight Curves

Amy, the artist, comes everyday to help out and check out our progress.

The pieces we're installing are very large, about 3 feet by 3 1/2.

It means we can cover a lot of the wall in one day.

We clean the excess mortar off the top very well so that the next pieces we install will sit flush with the pieces already on the wall.
